- Added 5/12/07 -This vid contains yet another song from System of a Down’s album, Hypnotize. Like “Lonely Day,” I heard “Soldier Side” and immediately thought of how well the song fit the film Saving Private Ryan because it described the horrible situation of war (“young men standing on the top of their own graves”) and also Tom Hanks’ character, Captain Miller, and his hopeless journey home (“He’s come so far to find no truth/ He’s never going home”). In terms of graphic content, this film is not exactly about carebears throwing hugs and kisses at each other, so expect the same kind of violence found in the film. This is my first vid in almost exactly a year and it felt great to get back into editing. I took the year off because I started and completed my first year of teaching and the hectic nature of the job allowed me zero time for hobbies. Now that I’m on vacation, however, I have time to make some of the vids I’ve been thinking about for more than a year. In total the vid took approximately 25 hours to complete spread over about a four day period (vacation life is sweet). It was edited in Adobe Premiere 2 and xvid compressed in VirtualdubMod.
